Toroidal transformers
Toroidal transformers are available in capacities up to 5 kVA
A toroidal transformer is a special design of a core transformer. These transformers are available in a limited power range. The core of a toroidal transformer consists of a ring-shaped silicon iron band, which is wound and later insulated. The windings are evenly divided among the entire circumference of the silicon iron core, so the heat radiation is beneficial and a high current density can be maintained. Due to the minimal distance between the core and the windings, the required number of windings per Volt is much lower.
Through this design, the toroidal transformer has a very low loss and better efficiency can be achieved. These toroidal transformers are smaller in size than other core transformers with identical power and therefore can be well integrated into small compartments.
The toroidal transformers are available in capacities up to 5 kVA in both single phase and three phase versions. Multiple primary and secondary windings are possible. Models such as open IP00 and encapsulated IP65 are available.
